Rally, part 1

It was great! There were so many people. I was actually surprised at just how many. There is an article in the Salt Lake Tribune by Matt LaPlante covering the rally. In it he states that only 500 people were there but I just can't believe such a low number can be right. It seemed to me that at least 1500, if not 2000 people were there. And most of the comments on the article agree with me.
I was impressed by the great variety in the crowd. Everything from young kids with "Obama for my mama" shirts to grandparents. I even saw an elderly couple. He was wearing his oxygen and pushing his wife's wheelchair. Now that's dedication. Everything from punks to hippies to veterans. It is sad that anger is what is bringing all these different people together but at least we are together.
Maybe someday we can put our differences aside without the prompting of anger. But until then, I guess Bush may be good for something.

Stand up!

The image is kind of hard to read but if you click on it you'll get a larger picture. This is the flier for a rally against Bush during his visit to Utah today. YES, even the reddest state in the union has enough anger towards the Bush/Cheney administration to put a rally together. I plan to be there and will post pics later. If you want to get some extra info go the the rally site http://www.peaceandhumanrights.com/ .

Flowers

I just recently figured out this neat trick that my camera does. I can select a single color for it to focus on and the rest is left in black and white. Very nifty. I'm going to have fun playing around with this feature. Stay tuned.

Poor Yorick, part 3

Alas, poor Yorick. It is always surprising to me how may interesting people come out for these events. Where are all these people hiding out? I never seem to run into anyone that I know. Or recognize any of the people at the events.
I feel like I know a ton of people and Salt Lake is not that big really. So, why would it be that whenever I go to these events I don't see any friends. Maybe I just don't know the right people or the friends that I have don't really reflect the life that I am living. Usually it is me and my friend Aron wandering around.
And sometimes it is just me. So this is an open invitation to anyone who would like to join us. Just say Hi. Oh yeah, Cat Palmer rocks!

Jesus, part 2

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Great addition to the "Trust Jesus" signs that are around town. This one is on 300 west and about 275 south.
This one was on 600 east and about 480 south but has been cleaned off the street.

The verse that it is referring to goes, "But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence." As far as I can tell Jesus is telling a story about a ruler who leaves and asks his servants to invest some money for him while he is gone. One servant does very well, another does poorly. At the end of the story it is the ruler who says this line to his servants.

So, I guess that the person using this verse means to say that Jesus agrees with the idea of slaying. I think but it is hard to know for sure. When you read the verse it does not say why Jesus is telling this story or what point he is trying to get across. It is just a guessing game as to what Jesus is trying to tell the audience with this story. Who's in the wrong the servant, who did not do well or the ruler, who wants to kill all who oppose him?

Yet, another chapter in the religious wars that are happening on the streets of Salt Lake.

Gilgal, part 4

On top of this very large spire stands a wire figure of the angel Moroni. Do you think this one will also trumpet when the end of time arrives?

This just looks creepy. From what I've read this area is to represents a part of the bible where a preacher is warning about judgment day. In the verse he mentions grasshoppers and how we all get old, hence the old man's head. Creepy.

Technically this birdhouse is outside the garden but it was made by Child. Truly one of the best birdhouses ever. The holes are all covered so that birds can't use it. Which is to bad because I'd think that Child made it to be used.
